Cognitive changes today are more related to your diet and lifestyle than to your age. Your emotional stress, poor diet choices and lack of physical exercise can cause your brain to atrophy (shrink). It is important to eat proper proteins and consume the right fats to keep your brain in good shape and your memory sharp. Just to let you know that your brain is composed of 60% Fat. Your vision requires at least 50% Fat. So, if you are having vision difficulties that have no explanation – you may look at your diet. You can introduce the right fats through avocado, olive oil, butter or even Coconut Oil. There are supplements that are beneficial as well.
Exercise such as walking can help your brain more than doing a crossword puzzle. Oxygenation and multitasking that any physical exercise offers your brain is a plus. The older we get the less we want to have an exercise program but that is when it becomes extremely necessary. Get up and Go do something!
Emotional stress releases cortisol, dopamine and adrenaline into your blood stream and brain. This excess or constant stress starts to cause memory and cognitive malfunctions. Staying in “Fight or Flight” on a constant basis ages your brain. Find ways to de-stress and utilize known supplements to lessen the physical responses. Take up meditation or even take 10 deep breaths when lying in bed or seated (as to not make yourself dizzy or light headed). Oxygenation is important and it helps to balance your whole body.
Pay attention to what Medicinal Drugs you are taking as some such as “statins” are known to suppress the synthesis of cholesterol and you need cholesterol to have proper brain function. These and many other drugs are known to cause cognitive impairment. Your doctor may jump too fast into putting you on medications without having even inquired about your diet or sending you for a more extensive blood test called “VAP” test. This type of test can determine if cholesterol is light and fluffy or the dangerous thick and sticky. The other dangerous drug is a “flu shot” as it normally contains toxins such as aluminum and mercury and these are definite known negatives towards “Alzheimer and Dementia”.
Keeping ourselves healthy should be our favorite hobby. Don’t wait until you are too old or in trouble to seek out experienced help for your continued goal of healthy longevity. Your mind needs fuel from certain supplements in your diet- if they are in lack – so is your memory.
